British & Irish Lion Stephen Ferris is expected to return for pre-season with Ulster in August.
Ferris was forced out of the tour to Soputh Africa with a medial ligament injury to his right knee when training with Ian McGeechan's squad on June 8.
A consultant in Belfast has advised a conservative management programme that will, as always, put the needs of the individual ahead of those of the province for his prospects next season.
