Wexford opened the first of today's All-Ireland SFC qualifiers in determined fashion but Offaly were soon on top.
Scores from Ciaran McManus, PJ Ward (0-02), Niall McNamee (0-03) and defender Stephen Lonergan ensured the visitors took a 0-07 to 0-02 lead.
Roche's goal narrowed the gap to 0-08 to 1-04 at the interval and while both sides pressed for dominance in the second half, Banville's 54th-minute strike was the game's defining score.
